Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Updated: Aug 19

AI is expected to contribute a GDP uplift of 10-18% across Southeast Asia, equivalent to nearly USD 1 trillion by 2030.[1]

ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025 offers a glimpse into AI’s enormous potential in our lives.

I was introduced to robots - specifically AI robotic barista who could make my morning latte - to the world’s first AI-powered digital Bank, Ryt Bank - followed by Malaysia’s first homegrown and localised large language model, ILMU (GPT equivalent).

Malaysia has not enacted our own specific legislation to govern and regulate AI although we do have the National Guidelines on AI Governance & Ethics[2] and other existing laws currently in force which may relate to AI such as the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 that applies to any person who processes and any person who has control over or authorises the processing of any personal data in respect of commercial transactions.

P/S: Will Malaysian companies that offer deepfakes detection be blooming soon?
